Sandstone chatri is actually an umbrella made of stone. It is named “Chhatri” because its roof looks like an umbrella. In earlier times, it was made as a memorial in memory of kings and maharajas. Today it is used to enhance the beauty of temples, gardens and big houses.

Its biggest feature is the carving and design done on them.

Making a sandstone chatri is not an easy task. It takes months of time and hard work of the artisans.
First the stone is selected.
It is cut and given the right shape.
Then the artisans do the carving by hand.
The entire chhatri is made by joining all the parts.
Finally, finishing and polishing is done so that it looks more attractive.
